[2] Ortiz is most famous for his time with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) where he was a former Light Heavyweight Champion, having held the title since April 14th, 2000 to September 26 2003. He was a pioneer in the sport alongside Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Ortiz was the top pay-per view attraction for 2006, due to his fights with Forrest Griffin and Ken Shamrock.
