April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US she is part of the elite set of women who've received medals from several Olympics. Alix Kallineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold in the next few days. However, more importantly Ross wants to secure the first Olympic gold. It could be Ross' final opportunity to claim an Olympic gold medal. The athlete is optimistic, however winning the gold medal is at hand. Ross is born August 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. While at Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. As well as indoor volleyball, she took part in tennis and also jogged track when she was an athlete in the pre-professional stage. When she played in the final sport she clearly stood out. As a college volleyball years According to her university bio, she was middle blocker, an outside hitter, and setter. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named the 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Though Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since 2017, the former had already been a major star on the beach way before they teamed up. There is no doubt that she has played a significant role on the scene of beaches for many years. In fact, Ross had won several championships, including one that was won by a famous volleyball legend. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also as Klineman and Kessy's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be a formidable force in the world circuit, winning an overall world title in 2009. The duo won silver at London's Olympics. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was stellar. It was her time to be an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000. In addition, she helped her Trojans in reaching the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore year However, she came back in the ranks of an All-American. The two years following her she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and won consecutive national titles. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross majored in international relations at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness her daughter rise to the top levels of beach volleyball stardom. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to cancer of the breast. Her mother is still in her arms. And Margie remains a source of motivation for her at the beaches and throughout life.
