April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US she is part of the elite set of women who've received medals from several Olympics. Alix Kallineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold in the next few days. However, more importantly Ross wants to secure the first Olympic gold. It could be Ross' final opportunity to claim an Olympic gold medal. The athlete is optimistic, however winning the gold medal is at hand. Ross is born August 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. While at Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross majored in international relations at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness her daughter rise to the top levels of beach volleyball stardom. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to cancer of the breast. Her mother is still in her arms. And Margie remains a source of motivation for her at the beaches and throughout life.
