Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the top-streamed track within 6 months. It was a blend of pop and reggaeton that attracted attention to Latin music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 compared with two for 2015. In the midst of the Despacito's popularity in 2017, there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. Then in 2020 the number was 41. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito came out in the year 2017. Then, numerous famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna worked with Maluma to create Medellin. A few performers of reggaeton expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in the year 2020. However, a brand new band, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the growth and evolution of reggaeton. He used elements from other genres and electronic music.
